The Promise

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever (Ps 12:6-7).

God promised to preserve his words.  Not just the meaning or the message, but the very words themselves.  If  God Almighty made that promise–and God cannot lie (Heb 6:18, Titus 1:2)–where are his words?  Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matt 24:35, Luke 21:33, Mark 13:31).  The Psalmist claimed that “the truth of the Lord endureth forever” (Ps 11:7:2), and The Lord Jesus Christ made it very clear, when praying to his Father, that “thy word is truth” (John 17:17).

If you really think God’s words are in the Greek and Hebrew, which lexicon have you made the standard?  If you really believe the NIV or NKJV are the very words of God, take all the other versions off your pulpit or out of your study.  Why is it that those who do not hold to the KJV refuse to hold to anything as an absolute authority? As the saying goes, those who won’t stand for something will fall for anything.  Sadly, many of God’s own people have swallowed the forbidden fruit of the serpent who made Eve wonder, “Yea, hath God said?”

God promised to preserve his words.  That promise still stands.  Where are they? May the Lord show you the truth of the Authorized Version as the fulfillment of that promise as you prayerfully consider this issue.

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations (Ps 33:11)
